When you find a good book, it’s lovely to share it and when I saw Kate Humble’s new book, I just knew it would be perfect for our Countrywoman’s Guide community.
The difference with Kate’s book is that the recipes are shared by a range of brands and people that Kate spoke to when compiling her ‘Home Made’ book and I really like this crowd-sourced aspect of the book.
The collaboration nature of it means that it’s like a compilation of everyone’s favourite recipes with a side serving of story about the person who is sharing the recipe.
You get to meet a whole bunch of incredible artisan makers, so it’s a great book to dip in and out of, and you’ve also got all the recipes to try when you’ve a mind to.
Alongside the book, we also have a Doris & Co ceramic half pint mug as the other part of the prize. Made in the UK, Doris’s thoughtful mugs are a perfect reminder and with this one, she’s letting you know that everything starts small, even mighty oaks.
As a full disclaimer, Doris is my (Emma’s) business. At the moment, she trickles along in the background really, but the mugs are beautiful and inspirational, I hope you like them!
Also, the book has got a little damage to the front top left spine (you can see it on the photo above) which happened during transit, but as this one is inscribed ‘To a Countrywoman, from a Countrywoman” by Kate, we hope you’ll forgive the little mark on it.
Anyway, as always, if you’re signed up to receive our emails on substack on 31st January 2025, you will automatically be entered into the draw to win the prize.
